Fulford Center to offer AARP driver safety course

The AARP Smart Driver™ course will be offered August 20, at the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center at East Georgia State College. Founded in 1979, the course has helped millions of drivers stay safe on the roads. It is the nation’s first and largest refresher course designed specifically for drivers age 50 and older.
The course will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. AARP Driver Safety instructor, Marcia Parkerson, will teach defensive driving techniques and strategies, traffic laws, and rules of the road. There are no written exams or driving tests.
Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion which, when presented to auto insurance carriers, often results in a reduction in automobile insurance premiums. Participants should contact their insurance agent for more details.
The course costs $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
Registration is required, and course participation is limited to 30.  The deadline to register is August 13.  To register for the course, contact Jean Schwabe at 289-2464.
