Faculty Making A Difference

Cornelius Washington is a defensive end and linebacker for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Georgia. With the Georgia Bulldogs, Washington recorded 76 tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss and 10.5 sacks, while starting 25 of the 51 games he appeared in.
He is from Burke County, GA, and a graduate of Burke County High School.

AMELIA SIMMONS taught him 11th Grade American Literature 2006-2007 while she was a teacher at Burke County High School.
Today, Cornelius stopped by EGSC to thank Amelia for everything she did for him in high school --- from the teaching to giving of good advice AND for just being a good person.

Congratulations to Amelia for leaving her students with such a positive impression.  We applaud our faculty for the difference they make in the lives of our students.
