EGSC to hold groundbreaking, State of the College address

On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, East Georgia State College will begin yet another exciting chapter in the school’s history as they break ground for the new Academic Building expansion project on their Swainsboro campus. The ceremony will commence at 10 a.m. at the lower level of the current Academic Building (near College Circle) and a reception will follow in the rotunda of the Luck F. Gambrell Center.
“East Georgia State College has experienced significant enrollment growth in the past few years, and this growth is expected to continue,” said Dr. Jimmy Wedincamp, Dean of the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. “This new academic building expansion will be the first addition of instructional space on the Swainsboro campus since the construction of the original academic buildings in 1973. The addition of new classrooms, biology laboratories and a large multi-tiered  classroom aims to provide a facility to sufficiently accommodate this projected growth.”
“The Academic Building expansion is a sign of the great progress that East Georgia State College is making as we continue to serve our students and community,” said Dr. Bob Boehmer, EGSC President. “This will be a very special and exciting day in the continued growth of our college, and I look forward to sharing our other accomplishments during the State of the College Address following our groundbreaking ceremony.”
Following the groundbreaking ceremony and reception, the annual State of the College Presidential Address will be held in the Luck F. Gambrell Center Auditorium. This special update on EGSC’s progress and future will begin at 11 a.m.
Both of these events are open to campus and community, and EGSC invites all to attend and help celebrate these great milestones for the college.
