East Georgia State College is getting prepared to welcome students back to campus this month. Beginning August 15, students will be moving into on-campus housing at Bobcat Villas West & South. Classes will begin August 19. In preparation for students coming back to campus, EGSC Student Life has already began planning events for the first week of classes and the upcoming semester.
At EGSC’s Swainsboro campus, Welcome Week will begin with a Daytime Kickback event August 19. There will be music, a cookout and giveaways. The event is from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the quad, which is located behind the Jean Anderson Morgan Student Center, also known as the JAM.
On Tuesday, August 20, the fun continues in the Rotunda of the Luck Flanders Gambrell Building. The event, Tumblers and Street Signs, is a time where students get to customize their own items. The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Wednesday, a movie night will be held at 8 p.m. on the quad. The movie will be announced closer to the event date.
Thursday, August 22 an Academic Success Fair will take place. The theme is “Mindset,” and the goal is to create a degree plan for success in college. The Success Fair will be held in the Rotunda of the Luck Flanders Gambrell Building from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
August 23 will wrap up the week’s events. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., a Game Day will be set up in the library where students can enjoy their favorite board games. Later that evening, a Silent Disco will be held where students can move to the beat. It will be held in the Rotunda of the Luck Flanders Gambrell Building from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.
At EGSC’s Statesboro campus a Lei’d Back Luau Party will be held August 22. The luau will feature giveaways, a hula-hoop contest, music, games, popcorn and much more. The party will begin at 11 a.m. and last until 2 p.m.
