Each year, OnlineU publishes a list of the most affordable colleges across the nation, providing unbiased rankings based on affordability, accessibility and quality to help potential students find the best match for their collegiate career. East Georgia State College was named the 2019 Most Affordable Online College for Nursing Degrees in a recently-released listing from the organization.
With a fully-online RN-BSN Bridge Program, EGSC ranked number one in the nation, beating out Texas A&M University-Texarkana, University of North Georgia, Mount Carmel College of Nursing and Cleveland State University in the top five listings. EGSC was $300 cheaper than the next-ranked college. The list of the 24 most affordable online nursing programs was compiled by SR Education Group, who has been publishing rankings of online colleges since 2009 using thorough research and fair assessment of all available online programs.
“We are proud to provide high-quality nursing education at an affordable rate,” said Dr. Linda Upchurch, Director of the RN-BSN Bridge Program at EGSC. “Our nursing faculty have years of experience in nursing education and clinical practice, ensuring quality and rigor of the program while providing a personal experience for each student.”
“East Georgia State College’s mission calls the college to be a leader in economic development in our region. High-quality healthcare is a key to assuring a robust economic climate in this region,” added EGSC’s President, Dr. Bob Boehmer. “The college is committed to playing a key role in continually improving healthcare in our region by providing a high-quality, affordable means for registered nurses to earn their bachelor’s degree in nursing while continuing to work in their chosen profession.”
East Georgia State College’s RN-BSN Program began in Fall of 2016 and will see its first cohort of graduates during the Fall 2018 Commencement Ceremony this December. The program consists of 120 credit hours and requires students to have an unrestricted State of Georgia registered professional nursing license and must meet all requirements and be accepted under regular admission status to EGSC with the RN-BSN Program as their designated major. To be accepted into the program, potential students must have graduated from an associate degree or diploma registered nurse program, have a minimum 2.5 GPA and grade of C or higher in all pre-requisite courses, and must have completed all required core courses. Students may petition the nursing program director for special consideration if all core courses are not completed. Students are admitted into the RN-BSN Bridge Program based on competitive selection and space availability.
As a student in EGSC’s RN-BSN Bridge Program, students will enjoy a streamlined admission process, convenient online courses, state-of-the-art curriculum delivery, convenient and flexible class scheduling designed for working nurses, highly-qualified and accessible faculty, a student-centered learning environment and strong academic support. The program gives students a professional advantage with minimal disruption to their hectic work schedule and busy lifestyle, allowing them to remain employed while learning the valuable skills necessary to pursue a higher level of nursing practice. Upon graduation, EGSC’s RN-BSN Bridge Program students will have greater job security, earn more money and be better qualified to meet the demands of today’s dynamic healthcare environment—without breaking the bank in the process.
“Many students in our RN-BSN Program will go on to pursue graduate studies for advanced practice degrees,” added Dr. Upchurch. “Others will pursue roles as nurse administrators, becoming leaders in their current healthcare environments. Most will stay and work in their communities. Our primary mission is to assist these nurses to meet the needs of those communities – they will make a powerful impact as leaders in health promotion, disease prevention, community health and research.”
