EGSC Lady Bobcats play weekend scrimmage games

East Georgia State College Lady Bobcat freshman Britney Foster pitched a one hitter with nine strikeouts and a complete scrimmage game performance to defeat Brewton Parker 5 to 0 on Saturday, October 10.

The Bobcats split with the four-year college in upperclassmen action, winning 5 to 0 and losing 6 to 4.

The Bobcats were most impressive at the plate with Allana Hooks going 6 for 7 in two games, with Sierra Taylor, Alana Lee, Dani Wells, and Mackenzie Wilkerson each having key hits for the Bobcats in the first two games.

Taylor Frye and Mackenzie Wilkerson had outstanding defensive performances for the Bobcats.

In game three the Bobcats freshmen played against Brewton Parker’s freshmen.  Errors would cause the Bobcats to fall 11 to 5.

"Our upper classmen played really well against much older four-year college players at 22 and 23 years old with four-year and five-year starters. Our freshmen are finding their way with on the job training and learning a lot about the speed of college softball," said Head Coach Chuck Wimberly after the scrimmages.

Wimberly added," it was great to see our junior college athletes compete and win scrimmages against a four-year program with players three to four years older and more experienced than us. It really proves how good of quality athletes we have at our college and in our program at this time."
The Lady Bobcat’s next scrimmage will be against USC Salkehatchie on October 15.
