EGSC Lady Bobcats claim Fall scrimmage wins

The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats Softball Team continued their winning ways in Fall scrimmage action on Thursday, October 16, traveling to USC Salkehatchie in Allendale, SC. The Bobcats won both games of the double-header by scores of 15 to 8 and 12 to 8.

Leading the way for the Bobcats in game one was Makenzi Wilkerson who would post a home run and 4 RBI’s, going 4 for 5 at the plate for the Bobcats.

Taylor Morgan would add 3 hits with 3 RBI’s, as the Bobcats would pound out 16 hits against the Indians to win 15 to 8.

Britney Foster got the scrimmage win with five innings of work, with Josie Spradley and Madison Poole closing out the 6th and 7th innings on the mound for the Bobcats.

In game two the Bobcats fell behind early by five runs to only come storming back behind a three-run home run by Makenzi Wilkerson. That fired the Bobcats bats up with Maddie Denning, Tabithia Mimbs, and Makenzie Crews each having two hit performances for the Bobcats in game two.

Getting the win on the mound would be Payten Strickland who would pitch four innings for the Bobcats. Mattie Cash closed out the Indians in the 6th and 7th innings to get the 12 to 8 victory.

Coach Chuck Wimberly stated after the scrimmage victories, “we are hitting the ball extremely well and producing a lot of runs.  We have a lot of power on our team along with a lot of speed, and when those elements of the game all come together like today, you produce a lot of runs and have a lot of fun at the ballpark.”
