Matt Donaldson, an East Georgia State College alumnus, was appointed Mayor of Twin City Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
Donaldson is a native of Twin City and attended East Georgia State College, graduating Cum Laude with an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration. After finishing at EGSC, he graduated from Georgia Southern University with a BBA in finance in May 2013. Donaldson continued his education and graduated from Georgia Banking School at the University of Georgia and the Georgia Academy of Economic Development. In May 2019, he completed his studies at the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
Donaldson started working with Durden Banking Company, Inc. in Twin City in 2006 during high school and continued working throughout college. After completing his degree at Georgia Southern University, he accepted a full-time position with the bank. Currently, he serves as Assistant Vice President and Controller.
He is involved with multiple organizations. Donaldson is the president of the EGSC Alumni Association, trustee of the EGSC Foundation, board member of the Development Authority of Twin City, president of the Friends of George L. Smith State Park, board member of the Georgia Southern University College of Business Young Alumni Board, and treasurer of the Adam Brinson Historical Society. In 2018, he was chosen by the Georgia Southern University Alumni Association for the 40 under 40 Class.
Donaldson was elected to public office in 2015 as a member of the Twin City City Council, served as Mayor Pro-Tem and currently serves as Mayor of Twin City.
“I was honored to be appointed to the office of Mayor of the City of Twin City to complete the unexpired term of Mayor [Eileen] Dudley. I look forward to continuing to work with East Georgia State College to make my community a better place,” said Donaldson.
Donaldson represents the City of Twin City on the board of directors of the Georgia Municipal Association as the first vice president of the 9th District and as the chairman of Municipal Training Board. In addition to his service to Twin City, he was appointed to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Annexation Dispute Panel in 2018.
Donaldson is a life-long resident of Twin City and loves his small town.
