On Saturday, March 30, 2019, six young women competed for the title of Miss East Georgia State College 2019. Competition was held in the categories of Casual Wear, Talent, On Stage Question and Evening Gown. The theme of this year’s pageant was “Putting on the Ritz,” with the Roaring 20’s theme in black and gold carrying throughout the competition through music and set design.
This year’s Miss EGSC is Kathryn Victoria Cox, 18, of Sylvania. She is the daughter of Kacee Cox, Mike Cox and Lisa Cox. Her platform is Juvenile Idiopathic (Rheumatoid) Arthritis. She is a Business Administration major and shared her talent of Stand Up Comedy. In addition to the crown, she also took home the People’s Choice Award.
First Runner Up was Asia Jennings, 21, of Augusta. She is the daughter of Rufus Jennings and Shelia Jennings. Her platform is Support the Fine Arts, and she shared her talent of acting with a monologue during the pageant. She also took home the Miss Congeniality, Community Star and Talent Awards.
Second Runner Up was Aliya Tankersley, 20, of Sylvania. She is the daughter of Wendy Morris and Travis Tankersley. Her platform is the Ronald McDonald House and she shared her talent of Dance with a medley of different styles set to popular music.
