Correll Scholars Announced at Fulford Center’s 5-Year Celebration

On April 30, following a week-long observance, the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center celebrated its 5th Anniversary with a special program to remember some of the many successes that have firmly established the Center as a gateway between the EGSC campus and the community.  The expansive outdoor deck and lodge-like atmosphere of the Center provided the perfect location to gather and celebrate the occasion.

It was also a special day for twenty entering freshmen who will be attending the Swainsboro campus this fall; they represent the inaugural 2015 class of Correll Scholars.

Pete and Ada Lee Correll, benefactors for both the Fulford Center and the scholarship program, were present; they were joined by many college and community friends who were eager to express appreciation and to reflect upon the Center’s numerous accomplishments. Among those attending were some of EGSC's most fervent supporters: Rep. Butch Parrish, Senator Jack Hill, Swainsboro Mayor Charles Schwabe, and EGSC Foundation Chair Denny Key.

Guests heard remarks from President Bob Boehmer, Former EGSC President John Black, Director Jean Schwabe, Fulford Center Advisory members Bill Rogers and Norma Kennedy, as well as from the Correll's.   A commemorative video created by the Schwabe's son, Clarke, was shared to highlight memorable events and activities hosted during the Fulford Center's first five years.

In tribute to the Correll's and their impactful philanthropy, Fulford Center Advisory Board members donated a stationary projector and screen for the Resource Library.

A final highlight of the morning was the announcement and introduction of EGSC’s first 20 Correll Scholars by Mr. and Mrs. Correll.
