East Georgia State College recently welcomed Lori W. Burns as the Director of Counseling and Disability Services. She joins the college from Ogeechee Behavioral Health Services as the Georgia APEX Provider and Social Service Provider Supervisor, where she worked to establish relationships and support Title I school partners to promote school-based behavioral health services and address student mental health and conduct issues, as well as provide personal and academic counseling services to students in individual and group settings, among other responsibilities.
Burns earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Georgia Southern University in 1996, and went on to earn her Master of Education in Community Counseling from Georgia Southern in 1998. She became a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor in 2002.
“EGSC is very lucky to have someone with the credentials and experience that Lori Burns brings to her new role as Director of the Office of Counseling and Disability Services,” said EGSC’s Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Deborah Vess. “Ms. Burns understands the needs of the students at EGSC and has a proven track record of success in her previous roles.
