East Georgia State College’s Bobcat Baseball and Softball teams both took to the field this past weekend. Bobcat Baseball sent eight players to Macon to play in the GCAA All-Star Baseball Tournament, which included over 20 scouts from Division 1 to the Major Leagues in attendance to watch players from Georgia compete.
“Congratulations to Coach Dusty Hess and his rising stars on their participation in this event,” said Athletic Director Chuck Wimberly.
The Lady Bobcats Softball Team traveled to Augusta Saturday for a scrimmage against the Jaguars, ending the game 0 to 0 with a pitcher’s duel before the rains came in the 7th inning. Sunday, the Lady Bobcats traveled to North Georgia University to take on Truett McConnell and North Georgia. The Bobcats’ bats came alive in these scrimmages, as they posted 11 runs and allowed just two to Truett in scrimmage game one. The Bobcats held their own in the second scrimmage against the 2015 NCAA National Champions, scoring five runs, but ended by giving up 12 to the Night Hawks.
