The men’s basketball season is beginning at East Georgia State College, and, this year, EGSC is proud to have 15 talented freshmen hit the court. The Bobcats played their first game during the annual Midday Madness event Friday, October 4, and came out on top with a 126 to 57 victory over New Rock Prep. The Bobcats showed lightning speed and agility in game one of the season.
Saturday, October 12, the Bobcats will take on Brewton Parker College at 4 p.m. on the EGSC Swainsboro campus. The team will then travel to Emerson, Ga., Saturday, October 19 for a showcase at the C.B. Hoops JUCO Jamboree. Coach Leroy Jordan and the players ask that fans come out and support them during their season!
Joshua Moore (#21) will protect the paint, control the boards on offense and defense, and give the Bobcats the inside scoring that they need. He is a big and strong post player and the size of the opponent in the post that he plays against does not matter. He is from Americus, Ga., and attended Sumter High School. He averages 11 points and seven rebounds per game. Moore was named second team All-Region.
Amari Harris (#0) is from Jesup, Ga. Coming from Wayne County High School, Harris will play the point and the wing for the Bobcats this season. He is a three-point shooter guard with the ability to attack the rim. He handles the ball nicely, is a tough competitor, and a high motor energy-type player. His team won the 5-A Region Championship and was selected to the second team All-Region Team. Harris was named Mr. Offense and player of the year two years in a row. His team also went to the 5A-State Playoff and lost in the Sweet Sixteen.
Xavier Duncan (#20) is from Warner Robins, Ga. He was a Region1-6A Co-Player of the year, and an honor roll student. He took over 60 charges last season, and will help the Bobcats with the inside scoring, rebounding and will protect the paint by taking charges like he did in high school. Opposing players that love to get to the basket--don't try it.
Javonte Lecoute (#23) is from Bradwell High School in Hinesville, Ga. He averages 18 points and eight rebounds per game. Lecoute was named a Region-6A Player of the Year, and was an honor roll student and four-year varsity player letterman. He will play the stretch four and three position for the Bobcats, and can score and rebound the ball at will.
Preston Crisp (#2) is from Woodville-Tompkins Institute in Savannah, Ga. He averages 20 points and eight rebounds per game. Crisp was named Savannah Player of the Year, first team all-state, first team all-region, two-time High School Academic All American, and graduated top 10 in his class. Crisp is a very smart player on the court who will be called upon to score the ball for the Bobcats this season.
Jerquaveon “Quay” Dillard (#13) also comes to EGSC from Woodville Tompkins Institute, where he averaged 13 points per game. He will be called upon to help with the ball handling and scoring this season for the Bobcats.
Maliek Sadler (#3) is a freshmen player from Druids High School in Atlanta, Ga. He is a three-point shooter with an excellent mid-range shot. Sadler will be called on to do just that for the Bobcats this season. He averages 15 points per game. Sadler was an A/B honor roll student in high school and was nominated first team all-region and player of the month.
Jamar Moore (#1) comes from Loganville High School in Loganville, Ga. He averages 16 points and 14 rebounds per game. He was first team all-region and first team all-state. Moore was "the two years in a row" junior and senior year and Walton County player of the year. He loves to attack the rim and is a great slasher and a long athletic player that can score inside and out. Moore will be called on to play to his strengths as a Bobcat this season.
Darien Cone (#14) is from Reidsville, Ga., and played basketball for Tattnall County High School. He averages 12 points per game. He was named first team All-Region and first team All-State and was an honor graduate.
Jaliyn Jones (#5) comes to EGSC from Valdosta High School in Valdosta Ga. He averages 10 points per game and was named second team All-Region, the 2018-2019 M.V.P. Defensive Player of the Year, and the SGFCA Chick-Fil-A Athlete of the Year.
Brison Rockcliffe (#10) is from Lithonia High School in Lithonia, Ga. He averages nine points per game and is a two-time player of the month for Dekalb County, and received the coaches award two years in a row for his leadership he gave to a team. He is a combo guard, who is a winner, versatile scorer, perimeter defense player and great floor general. His team was the 5A region Runner-up.
Daniel Viera (#11) is an honor roll student from Bradwell High School in Hinesville, Ga. He is a shooter who averages 10 points per game.
Javian Johnson (#4) is from Lee High School in Leesburg, Ga. He was named first team All-Region and averaged 18 points per game. One of his many strengths is that he is quick and speedy. Johnson is a crafty finisher that can get to the basket, has great court vision, excellent handles, and is a great mid-range jumper.
Shamar Rouse (#12) is from Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Ga. He received the first team All-Region Perseverance Award.
Keith Foster Jr. (#24) comes to EGSC from Washington County High School. He averages 10 points and eight rebounds per games. Foster is a strength player whose team won the 2A Region Championship.
