The Lady Bobcats Softball Team played in front of the largest crowd in fall scrimmage history on Friday, September 20, and Sunday, September 22, 2019.
The Bobcats took on Brewton Parker’s Varsity Team on Friday afternoon and were able to come from behind and pick up the victories in both games in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In game one against Brewton Parker, the Bobcats trailed by a score of seven to five heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Bobcats managed to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh on a walk off double to secure the win at nine to seven. Leading the inning for the Bobcats was Twin City’s own Allana Hooks, who would hit her first homerun for the Bobcats.
Game 2 was much the same, as both teams went back and forth with the lead heading into the seventh with the score tied at eight to eight. The Bobcats led off the bottom of the inning with a lead-off single by short stop Casey Sims, who then stole second base. McKenzie Wilkerson came to the plate and bounced a line drive off the left field fence, scoring Sims on yet another walk off victory for the Bobcats over Brewton Parker.
Sunday saw the hitting continue for the Lady Bobcats as they took on USC Union.
The Bobcats’ pitching core of Payten Strickland and Madison Bussell held USC to no runs in game one, while the Bobcats went off at the plate with 18 runs in game one to secure the third victory.
Game two was much the same, as the hitting of Taylor Morgan, Alaina Lee, Casey Sims, Stephanie Ruffin, Dani Wells, Jana Crew, Haley Taylor, Reese Stalvey and Olivia Christian led the way for the Bobcats as they cruised to an 11 to three victory and a 4 and 0 start to the fall season.
EGSC’s coaches and players would like to thank everyone for their support this past weekend!
