Recently, the Athletic Department at East Georgia State College hosted veteran Major League Baseball player and two-time MLB All-Star Jonathan Broxton. Broxton, who played 16 years in the Major Leagues with the Dodgers, Reds, Royals, Brewers and Cardinals, came to visit with Athletic Director Chuck Wimberly and the Bobcat Baseball team on August 30, 2018.
Broxton spoke to the Bobcat pitchers on techniques, form and approach to the game from a pitcher’s perspective, and also gave insight to the Bobcat hitters on their approach to the plate.
“This was a tremendous day for our baseball team and Athletic Program to have a big league player on campus,” said Wimberly. “Jonathan provided our baseball coaches and players with an opportunity that will sometimes only come about once in a lifetime—to be able to meet with and ask questions of a Major League Baseball player in a face to face conversation.”
EGSC Head Baseball Coach Dusty Hess added, “Having Jonathan Broxton here was a really special moment for our players and our program. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the game and really seems passionate about doing things the right way. We can’t thank him enough for coming down to share his experiences with our team.”
