Bobcats sign to continue education, careers

East Georgia State College Bobcat Baseball standout Rhett Gay recently signed a scholarship to play baseball at Georgia Southern University next season. Gay, a baseball and football standout from Emanuel County Institute in Twin City, came to EGSC and is in his freshman season as a Bobcat. He has lead the Bobcats to a first-place ranking in the GCAA conference with an impressive 8 and 1 pitching record.
“Rhett is an extremely talented young man, and all of the Bobcat Nation are extremely excited for him and this tremendous opportunity that he has been given to play at Georgia Southern University,” said Athletic Director Chuck Wimberly.
Gay was one of seven Bobcats who have signed to continue their careers and education at institutions of higher education. Parker Stahlman, an outfielder from Perry, has signed to Lee University. Catcher Ashton Pratt of the Bahamas has committed to Tennessee Wesleyan. Matthew Becker, RHP from Waverly Hall, signed to LaGrange University. RHP Taber Raley of Camilla has signed with Middle Georgia. Tyler Owens, RHP from Sylvania, will be joining Gay at Georgia Southern University, and first and third baseman Drew Haywood has signed to University of West Georgia.
Congratulations to all of our Bobcats who are moving on!
