The Candace Canady Memorial Scholarship 5K and Fun Run will take place on February 22 on the campus of East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, Georgia. The Candace Canady Memorial Scholarship 8th Annual Auction will take place on March 1 on the Swainsboro J.C. Fairgrounds. The proceeds from both events will go to support the Candace Canady Memorial Scholarship.

The Miss East Georgia State College Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Georgia pageant, a part of the Miss America Organization providing over $45 million annually in cash and scholarship assistance. Our new Miss EGSC is Harley Strickland from Claxton. She is majoring in Broadcast Journalism and is a student on our campus in Statesboro.

EGSC Professor, Dr. Lee Cheek, published a book on a “lost” debate in American politics between President John Quincy Adams and his political supporters, and Vice-President John C. Calhoun.
East Georgia State College Alumna, Meagan Williams, Class of 2010, has launched a home-based business on the Internet less than two months ago and has already gained strong sales in some brick-and-mortar stores. Internet sales so far have exceeded Williams’ expectations.
On Tuesday, November 19 at 11am in the LFG Auditorium, hypnotist Chris Jones is coming back to EGSC and his hilarious and fascinating performance is one you have to see to believe.
The Annie Moses Band will be here on Thursday evening, November 14, at 7 p.m. in the Luck Flanders Gambrell Center auditorium. A family of highly acclaimed, Julliard trained musicians that will leave a lasting impression.

The Staff team won the Save 2nd Base softball game on Tuesday, October 29, 5-2 over the students and we had a great turn out and raised lots of money to go towards breast cancer research and awareness charities.
