FEDERAL WORK-STUDY STUDENT INFORMATION

Students are a valuable addition to the East Georgia College work force. The following procedures are involved in becoming a work-study student.

  1. Complete the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine if you are eligible for work study.

  2. If you qualify for work-study, the Financial Aid Office will send you an award letter indicating that you have been awarded work study and the amount of money you may earned.

  3. Search for available positions on the student employment website @ http://www.ega.edu/HR/jobs.htm

  4. Apply for jobs by completing an application and submitting it to the Student Employment Office (SEO).

  5. Interview with potential Supervisors.

  6. If hired, the Supervisor will offer the student a job. If not hired, search for other available positions on the website.

  7. Once the student accepts the position, the student will take application to Registrar’s Office for signature and then back to the Student Employment Office (SEO)

  8. Next, the new student employee will meet with Human Resources to finalize paperwork for employment.

  9. After all paperwork has been processed, Human Resources will notify the student and the supervisor as to when the student may start working.

If you are currently a work-study student and will be returning to the same department:

At the beginning of each semester, student employees must complete an updated EGC Application for Student Employment and submit to the Student Employment Office with the appropriate signatures.
