TESTING OFFICE FAQs |
| What testing services does East Georgia College offer? | |
EGC offers the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) National on the first Saturday in November. Students who do not meet minimum SAT scores or are deficient in College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) courses from high school are also required to take the COMPASS placement test. After having earned 30, but prior to completing 45, hours of degree credit, students are also required to successfully complete the Regents' Exam. |
| What is the National SAT? | |
| The national SAT is offered via the College Board and Educational Testing Services (ETS). The test is "administered" locally by the institution. Answer sheets are returned to ETS for scoring, recording and subsequent distribution. Scores from these tests can be forwarded to any institution the student desires. | |
| Are there any fees for taking these tests? | |
The cost for taking the SAT is $29.50. For the national SAT the fee is
paid directly to College Board/ETS. For the institutional SAT, the fee
is paid directly to the institution. There is no charge for the COMPASS placement test or the Regents Exam. |
| How do I register for these tests? | |
To take the National SAT, you contact the College Board directly. To take the COMPASS placement test, you will be contacted via the Admissions Office that you are required to take the test. The letter will contain test dates and times from which you can choose. Test dates and times are also available on the website; they can be found under the menu heading “Calendars and News”, then proceed to “Test Schedule”. The Vice President for Academic Affairs will contact you concerning the Regents' Exam when you have completed 30 hours of degree credit and/or both ENGL1101 and 1102 with a "C" or better. The letter will tell you when and where to be to take the exam. |
| How much time is required to take these tests? | |
The SAT requires approximately 3 hours. If you are taking all three parts (Reading, English and Math) of the COMPASS placement test plan for 2.5 hours. For the Regents' Exam, plan for 2 hours. |
| May I use a calculator or dictionary on any of these tests? | |
