Conflict Resolution

Campus Conflict Resolution (CCR) Committee

Purpose and Functions: The purpose of the Conflict Resolution Committee is to provide an alternative dispute resolution process involving mediation for any student, faculty, staff, or classified employee, if resort to first- and second-line supervisors has failed to resolve the conflict.  If the mediation process fails, the disputant(s) shall have access to the formal grievance process through the Board of Review.  (See Article XII, Section J. Grievances, EGC Statutes)

The Campus Conflict Resolution Committee shall be advisory to the President and Administrative Staff. This committee will:

  • Develop written policies and procedures for the resolution of conflicts between and among faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

  • Make recommendations for the revision and improvement of such policies in order to ensure compliance with all the Board of Regents' initiatives, directives, and policies related to campus conflict resolution.

Mediation Services

This website contains information about "mediation" which is a form of conflict resolution. In short, mediation is useful for disagreements between students, students and faculty, faculty, faculty and administrators, staff, etc. If the parties in disagreement are unable to resolve their dispute one-on-one or with assistance from a chair, supervisor, senior administrator, etc., then the disputants should consider using a process called mediation which is described in the document linked below.
