The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats got their first conference win of the season with a 61-44 final over Atlanta Metro.
The Lady Bobcats got the win because of strong defensive play, as they actually had more turnovers (21-14) and took 12 less shots (65-53), but because they were able to force tough shots, they were able to get the win. They shot so much better (52 percent compared to 26.2 percent) that they were able to get away with it. If they shoot like that consistently, this is a team that will be hard to beat.
The game ball definitely had to go to Keamoney Locke as she scored 22 points and grabbed an incredible 18 rebounds while also adding an assist. She dominated down low and was the focal point behind the win.
She didn’t do it alone though as Paris Baker scored seven points, seven assists, four rebounds, five steals, and a block, putting together perhaps her best all-around effort of the season.
Sameria Butts had a good all-around game as well, scoring six points with four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Chasity Mullins had a huge game off the bench, scoring 16 points with three rebounds, three steals, and one assist.
The Bobcats next game will be at home against conference foe Georgia Highlands. This game will give the Lady Bobcats a chance to go to .500 overall and in the conference before Christmas break. IF they do so, they’ll be in a good position to make a postseason run when it’s all said and done.
