1. At the Swainsboro campus, the fiber optic cable infrastructure, which provides the pathway for the campus's data, voice and video traffic, has been replaced with new fiber optic cable.  This was necessary due to the age of some of the old fiber and to build in redundancy for the campus network. The new infrastructure includes fiber connectivity to the Fulford Community Learning Center, which will allow the Center to become part of the campus VoIP telephone system. Altogether, nearly two and one-half miles of new fiber cable was installed throughout the campus.

2. Beginning with fall semester, East Georgia State College is one of five USG institutions to go live with Desire 2 Learn / GA View D2L Course Management System, which replaces the Ga View Vista system. In addition to multiple faculty training sessions being conducted during the summer by Dr. Dee McKinney and Kathy Whitaker, as well as the compilation of D2L training manuals, many hours of work from both the academic and IT areas were dedicated to preparing the college for the migration to Ga View D2L.  The bulk of the remaining USG institutions will go migrate to the new GA View D2l system in January 2013 with all institutions being live by the start of the 2013 Fall semester.

3. A new audio visual system has been installed at the Shot & Jean Strange Student Clubhouse.  The system, which includes a ceiling mounted LCD projector, electric projection screen, Blu-ray / DVD play and speakers can be controlled by a wall-mounted touch panel.  Live TV / video feed can be shown through the system as well as PowerPoint presentations and Blu-ray / DVD video discs.  The system greatly enhances the services available in the Clubhouse.

4. Four new digital signage LCD units have been installed in strategic locations inside the building at EGSC - Statesboro.  The units will be used to disseminate information to students, faculty and staff.
