The East Georgia Sate College Lady Bobcats softball team fell short of the expectations many set for them early in the season, but they put together a very good season that continues to build on the early success of the program.

The Lady Bobcats end the year with an overall record of 25-17 and 8-8 in the conference after going 1-2 in the GCAA conference tournament.

It was a tale of two seasons almost for the Lady Bobcats, who started off as the best team in the conference, going 7-1 in their first eight conference, then going 1-7 in their last eight before the tournament. The Lady Bobcats had an up-and-down year at the plate, but were consistently great from a pitching standpoint.

Laura Cardell hit .301 on the season with six homers, 15 RBI, 31 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases on the season. Brinsley Screws finished with an average of .309 with five homers, 26 RBI, 26 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases. Both players finished up their Bobcat careers as two of the program's best offensive players.

Brittany Middleton was the dominant force in the circle once again for the Lady Bobcats, going 10-7 on the season with an ERA of 1.63 in 116 innings pitched. She goes down as possibly the best pitcher in program history after a fantastic freshman year in 2012. Transfer Mallory Riner went 7-3 with an ERA of 2.90 in 99 innings pitched. Courtney Jenkins finished her freshman year with 1-2 record and two saves while posting an ERA of 2.00 in 49 innings pitched.

The Lady Bobcats will return a strong nucleus of players for the 2014 season and should be right back in the conference title race.
