Homecoming 2013 at East Georgia State College

The week of February 18 through 22nd was a very exciting time for East Georgia State College students as they celebrated the 2nd annual Homecoming of the EGSC Bobcat basketball teams.  The week was a fun filled time as students dressed as jocks, nerds, pirates, zombies, ninjas, and celebrities.  The week culminated on Friday with Spirit Day as green and gold adorned the campus.   A cookout for students was held Friday night along with a Pep Rally where all of the basketball players were introduced along with the EGSC Cheerleading squad.  A dance-off ended the night with lots of fun on the dance floor.  Saturday morning began early with a charity cornbag tournament held in the Jean  A. Morgan  Student Center, with 16 area teams competing to raise money for Relay for Life as well as win a cornbag championship.  Matt Murray and Brandon Fields emerged as cornbag champs of this exciting event.  
Everyone then went over to the gym where the Homecoming festivities continued, as Shay Myers and Tommy Green  were crowned  the 2013 Homecoming Queen and King.  Sixteen young men and women competed for the coveted crown throughout the week.  Those competing were: Olivia Rigdon representing the EGSC Ambassadors, Marco Montes also representing the EGSC Ambassadors, Amber McNure representing the EGSC Drama Club, Savannah Parker representing the EGSC Art Club, Jessica Jennings representing the EGSC Cheerleaders, Ben Mimbs representing the EGSC Drama Club, Candace Blair representing the EGSC Gospel Choir, Sha’Quana (Shay) Myers representing the EGSC International Club, Brandon(B) Fryer  representing the EGSC International Club,  Lannie Miller  representing the EGSC Outdoor Recreation Club,  Walter Ivy representing the EGSC Outdoor Recreation Club, Megan Mims Parrish  representing the EGSC Republicans,  T’Keyah Sutton representing the EGSC Student Government Association,  Tommy Green  also representing the EGSC Student Government Association,  Natalie Love  representing the EGSC SIFE Club (Students In Free Enterprise) and Kevin Chiu  also representing the EGSC SIFE Club (Students in Free Enterprise). 
The week ended on a high note as the Lady Bobcats defeated Andrew College and the number 8 in the nation, Men’s Bobcats defeated Waycross College.
