Haley Chester Receives the first  SGA John Black Scholarship

To honor President John Black on his retirement from EGSC, the Student Government Association established the John Black Scholarship.  The scholarship winner will be a student meeting the following criteria:

• Involved in EGSC student life
• GPA 3.0 or higher
• Completed 15+ credit hours
• Recommendation letter from school official must be attached
• Required essay of 250 (minimum) words on “How School Involvement has Affected Me”

Haley, a sophomore from Treutlen County was chosen from an impressive group of applicants.  Haley is involved as an ambassador at EGSC, she is the VP of Circle K and the VP of SIFE, among her many other activities.  Haley plans to transfer to Georgia Southern University and continue her degree in psychology with a minor in business.  She hopes to open her own business. She is shown here accepting her check from Dr. John Black and his wife, Dorothy. 

It was great to have Dr. and Mrs. Black on campus for a visit.  He assures us he is enjoying his "retirement" as interim President of Middle Georgia State College!!
