Novelist Charles Martin to Speak At EGSC

The Vision Series will kick off the 2014-2015 events schedule with Best-selling Novelist Charles Martin on Tuesday, September 16. His presentation will be held at 11 a.m. in the auditorium of the Luck Flanders Gambrell Center at East Georgia State College. Free and open to the public, the Vision Series is a privately funded initiative that seeks to bring programs of cultural and intellectual enrichment to East Georgia State College and its constituency.
Martin was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended Bolles High School. He later earned his B.A. in English from Florida State University and continued on to receive his  M.A. in Journalism. Martin earned his Ph.D. in Communications from Regent University.
Martin is the author of a variety of  books, including A Life Intercepted, Unwritten, Thunder and Rain, The Mountain Between Us, Where the River Ends, Wrapped in Rain, Chasing Fireflies, Maggie , When Crickets Cry, and The Dead Don't Dance.  His novel, The Mountains Between Us, was optioned by 20th Century Fox to become a movie.
  Martin and his wife, Christy, were married in 1993. Martin commented, “If you include dating, I’ve known and loved her for more than half my life. She is and always will be the home for my heart.”  Martin and Christy have three boys, Charlie, John T. and Rives. “Folks often ask me, which of my books do I like the best. You might as well line up my sons and ask me who I love the most,” replied Martin.
His hobbies include Tae Kwon Do that he does with his boys, bow hunting, fishing, and most anything Christy wants to do. Martin and his family currently reside in Jacksonville.
