East Georgia Lady Bobcats Continue to Improve

The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats have started off the season with a 3-3 record against some good competition. The Bobcats started the season with a 75-40 loss at Clinton Junior College. They followed that game up with a 75-59 win over the Brewton Parker JV on the road. They then held down their home court with a 60-46 win over Middle Georgia Tech. They followed up the back-to-back wins with back-to-back losses against Pensacola State College (82-69) and Indian River State College (64-40), before returning home and beating Brewton Parker again, this time by a score of 65-32.

Even though it was a loss, the Pensacola game may have been the most impressive for the Lady Bobcats. An elite program just two years removed from a national championship, Pensacola State got as much as they could handle against the Lady Bobcats, who held their leading scorer to less than 10 points. The Lady Bobcats executed well and played well defensively against a very good team.

As things stand right now, Tiara Baker is the team’s leading scorer with 12.7 points per game. Baker is also leading the team with 3.5 assists per game, 1.7 steals, and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Keamoney Locke has also been impressive for the Lady Bobcats, averaging 9.8 points with six rebounds and one steal per game. She’s been a good low post presence for the Lady Bobcats all year.

Chasity Mullins is putting together a fine season herself with 9.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. And LaJanae Davis is averaging 8.7 points, two rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

The Bobcats get a week off for Thanksgiving break, but then return to play Clinton Junior College at home on November 26th and visit Middle Georgia Tech two days later as they continue to prepare for conference play, which begins on December 1st.
