The East Georgia College baseball team made the trip down to play ABAC in Tifton, GA in a three-game series this weekend. After beating ABAC at home last Tuesday, the Bobcats were only able to grab one of the three games on the road this time around.
The Bobcats lost the opener by a score of 16-5. They got behind in the early in the game, but it was a six-run seventh inning and a five-run eighth inning that really did the Bobcats in.
In game two of the series, the Bobcats were able to grab the lead and the win in the final inning. Down 1-0 heading into the top of the seventh, the Bobcats were finally able to string a few hits together, allowing Michael Brown and Jones Farriba to score and give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. Brandon Cook threw a complete game in this one, striking out six, walking two, allowing six hits, and only the one earned run.
In the third game of the series, the Stallions jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The score held at that until the Bobcats were able to tie it up sixth, largely due to Austin Denney knocking in two runs. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the Stallions were able to score a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh, giving them the win and the series.
Denney was the big offensive player for the series, going four-for-nine with a double, triple, one run scored, and two RBI.
The series put the Bobcats at 9-12 on the season and they are currently 2-2 in the conference. They play Darton College at 2 PM on March 12th.
