Active Shooter Exercise Planned For EGSC

An active shooter training exercise will be held on the main campus of East Georgia State College on June 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Approximately 75 law enforcement and medical personnel will be on campus for the exercise. Hosted by the East Georgia State College Police Department, other agencies involved include the Swainsboro Police Department, Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office, Swainsboro Fire Department, Emanuel County Emergency Medical Services, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia Southern University Police Department.


The classroom / lecture portion of the training, which will take place from 8:00 a.m. until around 12 noon, and the actual training exercise, which will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., will be held in the Social Sciences wing of the main Academic Building (C Building).  The day of the exercise, to alert individuals of the exercise, signage will be placed in various locations in / around the Academic Building.  Classes that will meet in the Social Sciences wing that day have been relocated to other classrooms on campus.
